July's edition of 'On the bench'

Currently, there are eight new pieces on my bench almost ready for the final polishing! Soon you will see 4 new rings, 2 new pendants, one bracelet and a pair of earrings. I have several casting days coming up in the next week, that should produce some parts for the QEA body as well as some fun new cuttlebone pieces. Continuing my current theme of ocean critters and bubbles.

I am very excited about the two new bodies of work I am creating. The first is called 'Queens of Every Age; A Historical Manipulation.'  There will be ten complete works consisting of relics of the queen, a painting, and accoutrements. Some will be more developed than others depending on the time period.

The second body of work is mainly work in metal. It is called 'The Heart of-' series. This will be a series of vessels that bring to being the metaphors we hear so often. There will be ten of these vessels when the work is complete.

In between these two bodies lies all my musings in jewelry, I tend to work on several things during a studio session, depending on the intensity of the work. I try to mix it up so that I am not stressing my body and hands during the work period. It is important also for the flow of my work to find the right mode/mood for each process.
